Dear Friend of SCPI,                   

Our partners in India are in desperate times. The coronavirus has come to their nation and the numbers are rising. But, the greater problem is that the government acted precipitously to shut down the country, giving people only a matter of hours notice. 

As a result, millions were stranded without food or transportation to return to their villages. They are a labor class of people who come from states sometimes very far from where they work. The roads were crowded with these people often times simply trying to return home on foot, kids in tow, many traveling hundred of kilometer back to their states. Once there, food would be available in their agricultural villages. Not much, but at least they would not starve.

The cities where our Indian colleagues are working, in many cases, are not better. De facto slaves, widows, orphans, and day laborers, most simply known as dailts, are suffering. With lockdown, and no jobs, these people have nothing to fall back on. Their life is hand to mouth during the best of times. 

Our Indian partners are helping out even now, distributing food to those around them, and on the streets. We want to help more. For an average cost of $10 a day, less in some cities and more in others, we can help feed those around them, and share the good news about the bread heaven.
